Dominion™ Pavers – Strong, Classic, and Built to Last

Mutual Materials Dominion™ Pavers

At Lee’s General Landscaping, we don’t just install patios and walkways—we build outdoor spaces that last. When it comes to pavers, Mutual Materials’ Dominion™ Pavers are one of our top choices.

If you want a timeless, durable surface for your patio, driveway, or garden path, Dominion™ pavers are a solid pick. They have that old-world, European courtyard feel but with the strength to handle everyday use.

This guide covers why Dominion™ pavers are a great choice, the colors and sizes available, and a step-by-step installation guide if you’re up for a DIY project.

Why Dominion™ Pavers?

These pavers are built for both style and durability. Homeowners choose them because they are:

  • Durable – Made from strong concrete that meets industry standards.
  • Classic in Appearance – Tumbled edges create a soft, aged look.
  • Versatile – Suitable for patios, driveways, and garden paths.
  • Available in Great Colors – Two natural blends complement any landscape.

Color Options

Dominion™ pavers come in two colors:

  • Cascade Blend – A mix of gray and earth tones, offering a natural, relaxed look.
  • Summit Blend – A warmer mix of rich, natural colors.

Both colors work well with trees, flowers, and hardscape features like fire pits or seating walls.

Sizes & Patterns

These pavers come in three sizes, allowing for a variety of patterns.

Shape Size (inches) Pieces per sq. ft.
Square 5½” x 5½” 4.73
Rectangle 5½” x 8¼” 3.16
Large Rectangle 8¼” x 11” 1.59

Note: The large rectangle pavers are not tumbled, making them stronger and ideal for high-traffic areas like driveways.

Installation Patterns

The layout of your pavers changes the overall look of your project. Some popular options include:

  • 3-Piece Ashlar Pattern – A natural, mixed-size layout.
  • Corridor Layered Pattern – Clean and modern.
  • Herringbone – Strong interlocking pattern, ideal for driveways.
  • Muster K – A classic European-style design.
  • Running Bond – Simple, traditional, and easy to install.

How to Install Dominion™ Pavers

Installing pavers takes preparation, but with the right steps, you can achieve a professional-looking result.

For detailed installation instructions, see the Mutual Materials full install guide.

Step 1: Mark & Excavate

  1. Mark the project area with stakes and string.
  2. Excavate to a depth of seven inches (or deeper for driveways).
  3. Create a slight slope (⅛”–¼” per foot) to allow for proper drainage.
  4. Remove loose soil and debris.

Step 2: Prepare the Base

  1. Spread a thin layer of ¾” crushed rock over the area.
  2. Compact the base using a plate compactor.
  3. Add and compact additional base rock in layers:
    • Four inches for patios.
    • Six to eight inches for driveways.
  4. Ensure the base is smooth and even.

Step 3: Bedding Sand

  1. Spread one to one-and-a-half inches of clean, washed concrete sand.
  2. Use screed pipes and a 2x4 board to level the sand.
  3. Do not compact the sand before placing pavers.

Step 4: Lay the Pavers

  1. Start from a straight edge, such as a building or walkway.
  2. Place pavers gently on the sand without pressing or hammering them in.
  3. Mix pavers from multiple pallets to ensure an even color blend.
  4. Cut pavers as needed to fit edges.

Step 5: Edge Restraints

  1. Install plastic edge restraints along open sides.
  2. Secure restraints with 10-inch spikes, spaced eight to twelve inches apart.

Step 6: Lock It In

  1. Spread joint sand over the pavers and sweep it into the gaps.
  2. Run a plate compactor over the area.
  3. Sweep in more joint sand, compact again, and remove excess.
